Loretto High School Band To Perform At State Concert Festival
The Loretto High School Band has been invited to perform at the 2015 Tennessee Music Education Association State Concert Festival. The State Concert Festival will be April 23 and 24, 2015, at Stewarts Creek High School in Smyrna, Tennessee.
This invitation comes from the band earning superior ratings at the regional festival. The band will be performing for some of the top music educators around.
The clinicians are Dennis Fisher (University of North Texas), Richard Floyd (Austin Symphonic Band, Texas), David Vandewalker (Georgia State University) and Steven Moore (University of Miami).
This will be back to back performances for the Loretto High School Band at the State Concert Festival and the third performance in the last five years.
Band Director, Darrell Boston stated, "What a great honor once again to perform at this prestigious event. I tell the kids, we are a family and a team. We all work together in a 'team effort' as our key to success. Working as a team, with the two middle letters of 'team' the most important. 'E' for encourage and 'A' for affirm. We try to encourage and affirm each other always. As the leader of the family, I tell them that brothers and sisters sometimes disagree on things, but we have to learn to work with each other and not against each other."
Excitement about the band program is growing everywhere, not only in the students and director, but also in the community. Band members and director Darrell Boston will be working hard to prepare for their performance showcasing their musical abilities.
